Flo had developed some lipomas, benign tumors of fatty tissue, on her neck. They had grown to a size that impeded her movement, making it difficult to turn her head while driving or get comfortable while sleeping. Additionally, they were noticeable to the point that they were affecting her self-confidence.

Enter Dr. Cohen with Community’s plastic and reconstructive surgical care team. He evaluated Flo’s lipoma following an MRI. He explained to her that it would be a delicate operation, given the location in her neck and shoulder area and the potential risk to her nerve endings. “He made sure I understood everything while reassuring me he would do everything possible to ensure a successful outcome.”

Flo considered her options and ultimately decided that the surgery would improve her quality of life. Dr. Cohen removed lipomas on each side of her neck as well as 24 lymph nodes. She had two incisions from the procedure, the largest of which was six inches long. Just a few months since her surgery, she is thrilled that there is no visible scarring.
