For release on January 14, 2026

INDIANAPOLIS—After nearly 14 years as President and CEO of Community Health Network Foundation, Joyce Irwin has announced her plans to retire on July 3, 2026.

Joyce Irwin, Foundation President and CEO“It has been the privilege of a lifetime to serve in this role,” said Irwin. “I feel deeply grateful to have had this opportunity to connect generous members of our community with programs that help more of our neighbors have a chance to live a healthy life.”

An executive committee member at Community Health Network, Irwin has advanced the Foundation’s mission and dramatically increased philanthropic support, leading a team to secure 15.7% year-over-year revenue growth and retain a loyal base of donors whose gifts are strategically aligned with Community’s needs and goals. Since 2012, the year Irwin started at Community, the Foundation has raised more than $137 million in donations to be distributed to programs across Community Health Network.

“Undoubtedly, Joyce’s dynamic personality and action-oriented leadership have been invaluable in putting Community Health Network Foundation on the map when it comes to impactful non-profit organizations,” said Patrick McGill, President and CEO of Community Health Network. “Her contributions have left a lasting legacy both here at Community and throughout the Central Indiana communities we serve.”

Among the many donor-funded, patient-centered programs that began under her leadership, the Oncology Patient Assistance Fund – supported each year by Giving Gig, the Foundation’s largest annual fundraising event – is notable. Established in 2014, the Fund helps qualified Community Health Network MD Anderson Cancer Center* patients access basic needs like food, gas and medicine, as well as housing and utilities assistance. Since 2014, more than 8,800 unique patients have received some form of assistance through the Fund.

Irwin has also been instrumental in several workforce initiatives related to healthcare and addressing clinical caregiver shortages. Specifically, in partnership with medical experts at Community and local academic institutions, Irwin has helped to lead efforts to increase the pipeline of qualified nurses as well as behavioral health therapists trained to treat both mental health and substance use issues via the Nursing Academy and Behavioral Health Academy.

“As President and CEO, Joyce has combined her breadth of experience in healthcare with her passion for seeking innovative ways to help people,” said Mary Beth Oakes, chairperson of the Community Health Network Foundation Board of Directors. “In fact, her unwavering dedication to people – from patients to donors, from volunteers to members of the Foundation team – has remained the very cornerstone of her leadership, while her talent of bringing people together toward a common goal has resulted in meaningful programs that reduce barriers to health across our communities.”

Irwin’s career in healthcare spans 30 years, with an equal amount of time spent in board service in healthcare, workforce development, public policy, education and the arts. Her efforts have earned her a myriad of awards and recognitions including: the 2018 National Association of Women Business Owners’ Trailblazer Award, the 2018 Hoosier Heritage Lifetime Achievement Award, a 2014 Torchbearer Lifetime Achievement award, and two Sagamore of the Wabash Awards – one from Indiana Governor Robert D. Orr and the second from Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb.

A search is already underway for Irwin's successor. She will remain in her current role and has committed to helping in the transition of a new leader.
