During February, the month dedicated to love, Community Hospital North is celebrating its love of babies.
For theeleventhyear in a row, Community Hospital North holds the title for most baby deliveries, welcoming more newborns than any other hospital in the state. Verified by the Indiana State Department of Health, Community Hospital North, located at 7150 Clearvista Drive, once again led the state in total births in 2024, continuing a remarkable streak that now spans more than a decade.
And the numbers tell a heartwarming story of growth, care, and lots of newborn snuggles.
2024 Baby Love by the Numbers
Total births: 4,254 new Hoosiers
Boys: 52%
Girls: 48%
Twin deliveries: 60 sets
Babies receiving NICU care: 810
Busiest delivery month: August
Busiest delivery days: 21 babies born on April 12 and August 9
For 41 years, Community Hospital North has been helping families welcome their little loves into the world.
“Community delivers the most babies because our care is truly one of a kind. Our nurses love everything about what they do, and it shows in every interaction they have with patients,” said Krystal Madison, Community Hospital North Maternity Nursing Director. “There’s a real sense of family here. I’m proud to be part of this team because I know that every caregiver shows up ready to give their best, every single time they walk through the doors. Every patient is their family member, and they provide care as such.”
Community Hospital North, along with Community Hospital East, is designated as an Obstetric and Neonatal Level III perinatal hospital, offering advanced, specialized care for moms and babies facing complications or complex medical conditions. From routine deliveries to high‑risk pregnancies and neonatal intensive care, expert teams are prepared around the clock to provide compassionate care when it matters most. “We know that no family hopes for a NICU stay, but it is our mission to make the experience in our NICU as comfortable as possible,” said Maddie Lenig, Community Hospital North NICU Director. “By determining what is most important to the families, prioritizing consistent and collaborative communication, and celebrating the small milestones of our tiniest patients, our team is able to achieve this.”
“Delivering the most babies for 11 straight years is the result of an entire team across the care continuum committed to excellence, safety, empathy, and partnership. When patients tell us they feel ‘heard,’ ‘supported,’ and ‘truly cared for,’ they are talking about every appointment, every interaction, every moment of reassurance,” said Amy Wire, Vice President of Women’s Product Line at Community Health Network. “Together, these shape the experience that makes Community North the destination for maternity care in our region.”
Community Health Network added to Indiana’s population in 2024 by delivering 7,923 baby Hoosiers total at our five acute care hospitals. We are looking forward to delivering the first baby at Community Hospital Westfield when construction is complete in 2027.
