Meet one of our exceptional caregivers, Dr. Itoro Okpokho! We asked Dr. Okpokho about her career, her passions and her life outside of Community Health Network. Here’s what she had to say.
Name: Itoro Okpokho, MD
Specialty: Family medicine
Practice: Community Physician Network Family Medicine Care at Stop 11 Road
Q: What’s your area of focus? Are there any conditions you specialize in treating?
A: As a family medicine physician, I treat the whole person. I specialize in my patients’ total health, including their mental, emotional and physical well-being.
Q: What inspired you to be a caregiver?
A: My mother! She bought me a Fisher-Price® doctor’s bag when I was very little.
Q: What’s the most fulfilling thing about your job?
A: Being allowed into the vulnerable spaces of my patients’ health in order to take care of them.
Q: What makes your practice a great place to receive care?
A: The South Indy Stop 11 Road family and internal medicine practice is a great place to receive care because of all the different providers that may be a part of your care. Aside from the physicians that you may see, we have behavioral health, dietetics and other resources available.
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do around town, not during the pandemic?
A: I’m a big foodie, so I enjoy going out to eat. I love Fogo de Chão and a lot of the restaurants on Mass Ave.
Q: What’s your guilty pleasure snack?
A: Ghirardelli brownies, preferably the corner or edge pieces, with vanilla ice cream.
Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: I’m a novice crafter and enjoy coloring.
