Sexual Assault Treatment Center

At Community Hospital Anderson's Sexual Assault Treatment Center (SATC), we envision a community where survivors are believed, supported and empowered and where sexual violence is prevented through compassion, education and collaboration.

Our mission is to provide compassionate, comprehensive and survivor-centered medical care and treatment to individuals affected by trauma and violence. We strive to ensure every patient is met with dignity, safety and respect while receiving timely medical treatment, forensic services and emotional support.

We are committed to:

  • Offering expert, trauma-informed care that promotes healing and empowerment
  • Collaborating with community partners to strengthen pathways to safety, advocacy and justice
  • Educating our community to prevent sexual violence and support survivors
  • Advancing best practices through continual training, innovation and collaboration

With compassion and integrity, we work to restore hope, uplift survivors and foster a community free from sexual violence.

Services

Patients presenting to Community Hospital Anderson can be seen by a forensic nurse/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) at the Sexual Assault Treatment Center. We care for patients of all ages who have been impacted by trauma and/or violence. Many patients describe their experience as positive and empowering, and while some parts of the exam may feel uncomfortable, our team works carefully to minimize distress and prioritize comfort throughout the process.

  • Medical forensic examinations and evidence collection are conducted by specially trained healthcare providers using a patient-centered approach.
  • We offer care in a private, quiet and safe environment, with trained providers guiding the patient through every step of the process.
  • We offer information on the risks, benefits and alternatives of their choices; but ultimately, our patients are in control of what happens during their visit.

Sara's Closet

Established in 2016, Sara’s Closet is named to honor 12-year-old Sara Woolum, whose efforts provided a $5,000 gift to the SATC for the purchase of supplies for pediatric patients. Thanks to the generosity of donors, we are able to stock Sara’s Closet with comfort items, stuffed animals, toys, snacks, games and blankets to support patients through their examination.
