Lauren Allman, DO

Hometown: St. Louis, MO
Hobbies/Interests: Clinically, I am passionate about full-spectrum primary care, especially preventive medicine, women’s health, procedures and lifestyle medicine. Outside of medicine, I love to spend time with my husband, especially on daily walks with our golden retriever, Honey. I am a big sports fan; you can often find me cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and Blues or the Butler Bulldogs. I also enjoy traveling, watching movies, cooking/baking, and spending time with family and friends. I am excited to continue my training in Indianapolis!

Hanisha Battina, DO

Hobbies/Interests: I am very excited to join the Community Hospital East Family Medicine Residency Program. My areas of interest in medicine include preventive care, women’s health and pediatrics. Outside of medicine, I enjoy traveling and spending time with family, friends, and my dog, Maggie! 

Katherine Moravec, DO

Hobbies/Interests: I am so excited to be joining the Community Hospital East Family Medicine team! My clinical interests are broad, with my greatest interests including women’s health, sports medicine, and health equity. I love reading, crafting, traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with friends and family. 

Sandunya Obeyesekera, DO

Hobbies/Interests: I am incredibly honored and excited to join the Community Hospital East family! I am passionate about outpatient primary care, preventative medicine, and caring for underserved communities. I am also interested in women’s health and procedures. Outside of medicine, I love spending time with my family and friends, reading, experimenting with Sri Lankan recipes, traveling, taking walks, and watching TV. I’ve picked up my violin again after 9 years, so I’ve also been practicing that lately.

Travis Owen, MD

Hobbies/Interests: I am passionate about providing full-spectrum primary care, with specific interests in obstetrics/reproductive health, mental health, care for underserved populations, dermatology, and preventive and lifestyle medicine. Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing volleyball, nurturing my 100+ houseplants, hosting game nights, cooking new recipes with my spouse, and relaxing with our cats, Roy & Evie.

Meghann Roessler, DO

Hobbies/Interests: I am thrilled to continue my medical education with the Community East Family Medicine Residency! My clinical interests include women’s health and OB as well as preventive medicine and public health. Outside of medicine, I love to spend my time reading with a good cup of coffee, knitting and crocheting, and exploring new places both in my own city and beyond.

Sarah Shepherd, DO

Hobbies/Interests: I am proud and excited to join the Family Medicine Residency at Community East! I have happily completed all my education in the Hoosier state and I am happy to continue my training here in Indianapolis. I love family medicine because I find joy in the patient relationships, providing preventive care and caring for the whole patient. Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our pets. We have two cats, Mr. K and MuMu, and a dog, Bluey. I also love crafting, organizing and bargain hunting!

Alexander Spencer, DO

Hobbies/Interests: I’m grateful and excited to be a part of Community East Family Medicine Residency. My clinical interests include preventive care, public health and global health. My hobbies include reading, traveling (15 countries so far!), shopping for vintage clothing, and fiddling with technology new and old. I like to spend my time with my friends and my big family (eight younger siblings!) and exploring places near and far.

Mariel Zelaya, MD

Hobbies/Interests: I am very excited to join the Community East Family Medicine Program! My interests within family medicine include OB, women’s health, procedures and caring for underserved populations. Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, thrifting, exploring new places, visiting coffee shops and taking relaxing walks in nature. I am also excited to explore more of Indiana and get to know the community and everything the area has to offer.
