INDIANAPOLIS (November 20, 2024) – Today, Community Health Network opened its newly expanded area of the Community Surgery Center South for patient care.
Construction on the expansion began in September 2023 to provide improved, quicker access to surgical care. “This expansion was needed due to the increased demand for available surgical time here on the south side of Indianapolis. The south side is rapidly growing,” said Dr. Chadwick Strain, Community Surgery Center South Medical Director. “With our recent partnership with MD Anderson, we also wanted to ensure that we created additional space to care for our growing population of oncology patients.”
The expansion included:
Adding two operating rooms (for a total of 9)
Adding seven patient rooms (for a total of 43)
Remodeling processing/cleaning rooms
The project was the first expansion for the facility since 2006.
Last year, the surgery center provided treatment for nearly 12,000 cases. Executive Director of Surgical Services at Community Surgery Center South Britt Cross says she and her team are excited about the opportunity this expansion provides to serve patients. “This expansion will allow us to care for patients in a more efficient and timely manner by providing additional operating rooms here on the south campus,” said Cross. “Meeting the needs of our patients is the top priority and we want to ensure that we are providing every patient we touch with exceptional care, simply delivered.”
