What to Expect During Your First Breast Surgery Consultation

Whether you’re coming to us for a second opinion or navigating a new breast-related diagnosis, our team is here to listen closely and walk beside you with a thorough and compassionate evaluation.

During your first visit, you will meet with a breast surgeon or an advanced practice provider. This appointment includes:

  • Physical Exam - A thorough physical exam conducted by the provider
  • Clinical History - An in-depth discussion of your personal medical history and family history
  • Imaging Review - Review of past diagnostic imaging to determine the next steps for your care

How Long Is the Appointment?

  • The first appointment usually takes about 30 minutes.
  • If you have biopsy results confirming breast cancer, please plan for up to 60 minutes to allow for a more detailed treatment discussion.  

Visit Checklist: What To Bring

Please bring the following items to your first appointment to ensure a seamless experience:

  1. Current insurance card
  2. Photo identification (driver's license or state ID)
  3. Medication list (including dosages)
  4. Legal documents (e.g., medical power of attorney, if applicable)

Coordinated Care and Scheduling

Our dedicated breast care schedulers manage all aspects of your care journey. They will coordinate your follow-up appointments and diagnostic testing, which may be scheduled near the breast care center for your convenience.
