We have redesigned our method of meeting your needs quickly, which includes a rapid assessment of your emergent condition at the door, and immediate bedding* (if there is an open bed, you will go directly to the treatment room to be triaged—no stops). Our door-to-doctor times are lower than the national average.
Our Emergency Department nurses have completed the Trauma Nurse Core Course, which is a national standard for the Emergency Nursing Association. Our staff are trained to care for motor vehicle accidents, burns, falls and other traumatic injury.
With Community Howard’s two cardiac cath labs and an interventional cardiologist on call 24/7, Community Howard is able to provide lifesaving treatment for heart attack patients right here in Kokomo.

If you require an ambulance but your emergency is not life-threatening, you may indicate your hospital of choice. In the case of life-threatening emergencies, patients are always transported to the nearest emergency facility.
Community Howard EMS will bring a mobile emergency room to your door, saving you the precious time that can save a life. Every time a Community Howard ambulance goes out, a paramedic is on the ambulance. Their expert training and the life support equipment on board make them an extension of the hospital's emergency room.
