Indianapolis, IN — Fairbanks, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit treatment and recovery center, has announced a new Family Support Center designed to help families and friends get answers to the many questions they may have when learning about – and trying to understand – substance-abuse disorders. Experts in addiction are now available by calling 800-225-4673 and scheduling an appointment. The support system is free, easy to access, and available to individuals ages 18 and older. With an increase in drug and alcohol abuse due to pandemic stress, the services are needed now more than ever. Due to COVID-19 protocols, the Family Support Center’s programming is currently virtual – by phone or online.
“Fairbanks has therapists available to help families in our community who have loved ones with substance-use issues,” said Robin Parsons, Fairbanks Chief Clinical Officer. “If someone is concerned about an individual’s use of alcohol or drugs, we can help answer questions around this difficult and sometimes confusing issue. We’re here to help. Calls are completely confidential.”
Fairbanks’ new Family Support Center is open to anyone seeking answers to their questions about addiction. Common questions range from: Should I be concerned? What do I do if they don’t want my help? What are the different treatment options available? Are there signs of addiction I should look for in my loved one?
The opening of the new virtual family support center comes at a time when more Hoosiers than ever before are struggling with addiction due to the stress from the pandemic.
“COVID-19 has certainly changed all of our lives in more ways than we thought imaginable,” said Theresa Anderson, Fairbanks’ Chief Nursing Office and Interim CEO. “It’s changed work, school, social interaction – nearly everything we do – and that change has a profound effect on how people are handling stress and hardships. We are seeing an increase in the need for addiction services as people struggle to cope.”
Fairbanks’ new Family Support Center is just one more service available to help Hoosiers on their road to recovery. Call 800-225-4673 or visit eCommunity.com/fairbanks for more information. Fairbanks is proudly affiliated with Community Health Network.
