Indianapolis—Community Health Network President and CEO Bryan Mills donated convalescent plasma Saturday at Versiti Blood Center of Indiana’s Fishers location.
Community Health Network is working with Versiti Blood Center of Indiana to collect convalescent plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients. This plasma is used to help treat those most severely affected by coronavirus.
On March 23, Community announced its president and CEO, Bryan Mills tested positive for COVID-19. Mills quarantined in his home, while continuing to lead one of the largest healthcare systems in the state.
Now recovered, Mills says he plans to donate plasma regularly. His donation Saturday was among 171 donations Versiti has received from Indiana donors since the program began last month. That’s more than has been collected at other Versiti locations in Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin.
On April 10, Dr. Sarah Dilley, a Community Health Network gynecologic oncologist, was the first CCP donor in the state of Indiana.
In addition to plasma donations, there is an urgent need for blood donations across the state.
