Hereditary Hematologic Malignancies Clinic
Helping Families Understand Their Risk for Blood Cancers
The Hereditary Hematologic Malignancies Clinic offers evaluation and care for patients and families who may have an increased genetic risk of blood cancers. About 1 in 10 people who develop blood cancer have an inherited component that may be undetected. Our clinic offers advanced genetic testing and monitoring to help families better understand their risk.
Led by Zachary Wolfe, MD, the clinic is the first in Indiana to offer this level of specialized care. Our Community MD Anderson oncology team works closely with MD Anderson Cancer Center to provide the latest guidance on inherited risk factors and genetic predisposition to blood cancers.
Genetic testing and counseling may be available to patients and family members, depending on personal and family history.
If you have questions about your risk, talk with your doctor to see if the clinic may be right for you.
Blood Cancer Support Group
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society offers a monthly support group for blood cancers. Support groups provide the opportunity to discuss anxieties and concerns with others who share common experiences throughout illness, treatment and survivorship support. Patients as well as their family, friends and caregivers are all welcome to attend. The group provides current and reliable blood cancer information and helps group members deal more effectively with illness. For more information, please call 317-621-4323.
