Community Hospital North Delivers Most Babies for Ninth Year in a Row

Community Hospital North top in the state for deliveries in 2022

Indianapolis—Community Hospital North continues its streak of delivering more babies in 2022 than any other hospital in the state of Indiana. According to the State Department of Health, this marks nine years in a row for Community Hospital North as the top spot in deliveries for the state.

Here is a look at more statistics for 2022 for Community Hospital North Maternity:

  • Total births: 4,032
  • Sets of twins: 83
  • Highest delivery month: August-385 (about 12 babies a day)
  • Highest delivery day: 21 (on May 23, August 16, September 23, and December 8)

One set of twins was born to Caitlin and Garrett Preston (pictured below). Landon and Bella were delivered by Sylvia Ertel, MD, who is also a mother of twins. “Their care emotionally and mentally made all the difference,” says Preston.

Today, the Maternity and NICU teams celebrated being the top delivering hospital in Indiana for 9 years straight (pictured below). “I am proud to be a part of this team. Community Hospital North is a designated Obstetric and Neonatal Level III perinatal hospital, providing exceptional care for moms and babies with complications and complex conditions.

The Level III NICU cared for 673 babies in 2022 with 24/7 in-house support of a multidisciplinary team of providers.
