Community Health Network Implementing Visitor Restrictions

For release on December 13, 2024

Protecting patients as respiratory illnesses are on the rise

Correction: The original restrictions effective date was stated as Monday, December 16, 2024. The correct date is Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

INDIANAPOLIS (December 13, 2024) – Visitor restrictions will take effect at Community Health Network sites of care starting on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. This is in response to a significant increase in flu activity monitored by the Marion County Public Health Department.

The temporary restrictions are being implemented to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses. They include:

  • No visitors under age 18
  • Limiting visitors to patient’s immediate family or as identified by patient
  • No more than two visitors at a time per patient
  • Visitors must wear masks in patient rooms when requested
  • Those with respiratory symptoms may not visit

These restrictions will be in place at all Community hospitals, Community MD Anderson Cancer Centers and Community Fairbanks Recovery Center.

Community is working closely with the Marion County Health Department and will keep the temporary visitor restrictions in place until a decline is seen in flu activity. Community is committed to patient care and safety and maintaining a healthy environment during the peak of flu season.
