Drug Take Back effort collects more than 1,700 pounds of medication

For release on April 24, 2021

Indianapolis, IN—Community Health Network sites of care around central Indiana served as safe, secure drop-off locations for expired and no longer needed medications as part of a national Drug Take Back effort. 1,727 pounds of medication were collected overall.

The medication disposal helps to prevent accidental poisoning of children and pets. Proper disposal also ensures that personal information on prescription bottles won’t be used for identity theft.

“As medication therapies are changed, it can be confusing to have old bottles at home,” said Eleni Drake, Community Health Network pharmacist. “We want everyone to have a safe way to discard unneeded medication.”
