About

In addition to our expert clinical team specially trained in spine care, the centers provide on-site spine rehabilitation and physical therapy with the convenience of onsite imaging services and access to specialty consultation referrals.

Non-Surgical Approach

Although our physicians are medical doctors, and are specialized in neck and back problems, they are not surgeons. Our approach is to try to avoid surgery whenever possible. In cases when surgery is needed, we can quickly get the patient an appointment with one of our collaborating surgical colleagues.

Physicians and Therapists

Our physicians are physiatrists, a type of doctor specially trained in physical medicine and rehabilitation to treat back, neck and spine pain. They are experts at diagnosing and treating pain and restoring function.

Meet the Physicians

The care team also includes nurse practitioners and physician assistants who partner with our physicians to review the patient history and conduct physical exams, order diagnostic tests, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication and make referrals as needed.

Meet the Therapists

All our physical therapists are certified in the McKenzie Method and promote the highest standards of using the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy MDT protocols.

Josh Blanchard, PT, DPT, Cert. MDT, AT-Ret
Josh has been a physical therapist for over 20 years. He graduated from the University of Indianapolis with an undergraduate degree in athletic training and a master's degree in physical therapy. He finished his doctorate degree in physical therapy in 2014.

Josh has worked with the Community Health Network his entire career, specializing in orthopedics. He has experience treating a wide range of patients dealing with athletic injuries, post operative conditions, balance deficits and overall joint pain. Josh became credentialed in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) / the McKenzie Method in 2019. In the spring of 2024, Community Spine Center was pleased to welcome Josh to our south location, benefiting from his expertise in MDT and strong orthopedic background.

When not working, Josh enjoys spending time with his wife and two teenage children. He enjoys the outdoors, working in the yard, vegetable and flower gardens, as well as walking his dog. He loves using his smoker and watching sports - especially football.

Judy Joostberns, PT, MHS, Dip. MDT
Judy has over 30 years of experience as a physical therapist specializing in outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine. A graduate of Indiana University’s physical therapy program, she went on to earn a master of health science in orthopedic physical therapy from the University of Indianapolis. She joined the Community Health Network more than 20 years ago and became part of the Community Spine Center team in 2025. Judy earned her diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) in 2012 and has also served as a teaching and lab assistant for the McKenzie Institute.

Her clinical interests include the McKenzie Method, the neuroscience of pain and chronic conditions, and the holistic care of patients. With a mind for general wellness and prevention, Judy appreciates the ability of MDT to empower patients.

Outside of the clinic, Judy enjoys an active lifestyle that includes hiking, kayaking, gardening and yoga. She and her husband, Tony, love cheering on their twin daughters, Anna and Kyra, both on and off the volleyball court.
