Community's commitment to our neighbors dates back to the 1980s, when we saw a growing population base that did not have adequate care options nearby. Community opened its first MedCheck urgent care clinic to serve those neighbors, and by 1985 we opened Community Hospital North, which now anchors our largest healthcare campus. The need for services that we observed three decades ago has grown steadily ever since, and Community has continued to invest in much-needed, specialized care in the region:
Community Health Network, Hamilton Southeastern Schools and City of Fishers have created a unique partnership to consider how to pool resources and coordinate efforts to ensure that mental health challenges don’t go untreated within the community. The mission of the mental health task force is to develop a community that embraces mental health treatment before crises occur, protect the welfare and safety of Fishers residents and take a systemic approach to mental health challenges in the community.
Community works with local civic organizations to help us meet a wide range of community needs beyond healthcare. For example, we’re partnering with numerous organizations to address social factors that impact health, such as food insecurity, utility needs, transportation, interpersonal violence and social isolation.
Community Cupboard of Lawrence
To combat food insecurity, Community operates the Community Cupboard of Lawrence, a food pantry that serves Lawrence Township residents in need of assistance.
Educational Partnerships
Education plays a strong role in enhancing well-being, which is why we build vital connections to schools in all of our regions. In the North Region, we partner with Lawrence Township, Washington Township and Noblesville schools in multiple ways, providing school nurses to meet the needs of students, operating an employer clinic that makes it easier for teachers, staff and their families to get well and stay healthy, and putting healthier athletes on the field through a variety of sports medicine services.
Further north, in Hamilton County, we collaborate with schools, businesses, human service agencies and other healthcare providers on the Partnership for a Healthy Hamilton County. Its activities are guided by a community health needs assessment.
Project Search Indiana
Project Search Indiana is a high school transition program targeted for students whose main goal is competitive employment. The program is a worksite-based school-to-work program for students with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Community North is once again partnering to make Project Search Indiana a success. We’ve just welcomed a new cohort of students to take part in the program. Project Search Indiana is a collaborative effort with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Indiana University Indiana Institute on Disability and Community, Easter Seals Crossroads and Lawrence Township schools.
