Community Health Network executive vice president John Kunzer, MD, MMM, MHI, CPE, was named Community Physician Network (CPN) president in January 2018. CPN has over 1,400 physician and advanced practice providers. As CPN president, Dr. Kunzer is responsible for continued advancement of CPN’s two major goals of transforming physician culture and transforming patient care. As a pediatrician, Dr. Kunzer sees patients at Jane Pauley Community Health Center. Dr. Kunzer was recently appointed the first ever chief medical officer for the City of Lawrence in Indiana.
Dr. Kunzer came to Community in 2015 as senior vice president and physician executive for the network’s east region. Before joining Community, Dr. Kunzer served as CEO for Eskenazi Medical Group and chief medical officer for Eskenazi Health Center.
Dr. Kunzer is a leader in transformative healthcare redesigns, exemplified by achieving exceptional outpatient satisfaction and quality satisfaction scores; obtaining NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home™ Level 3 (highest level) for multiple practices; and leading the only Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service’s Accountable Health Communities funded model in Indiana.
Dr. Kunzer completed medical school and a pediatric residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. He earned a master of medical management degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a master of healthcare innovation degree from Ohio State University. He is a certified physician executive from the Certifying Commission in Medical Management and a certified instructor of emotional Intelligence (EQi2) and Myers Briggs Type Indicator assessments. Dr. Kunzer completed faculty development fellowships in primary care and underserved medicine and is a graduate of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series. He was selected as a member of the Indianapolis Business Journal's 2012 "Forty under 40”.
Dr. Kunzer and his wife, Amanda, are proud parents of Jackson, Mikayla and Quinn.
